The Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, will be visiting the United States from June 21 to 26, and will meet up with political figures and business leaders during the trip according to Channel News Asia. PM Lee’s last visit had been in April of 2013.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) issued a statement this Friday saying that the Washington, DC leg of the trip will see Mr Lee attend meetings in the White House and with several Cabinet Secretaries, as well as principal figures in the US Senate and House of Representatives. He will also deliver a speech at a reception to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the US-Singapore Free Trade Agreeement (FTA), and speak at the Council on Foreign Relations. When in New York, Mr Lee will meet business and industry leaders, and launch Temasek Holdings’ New York Office, according to the statement.

He will be accompanied by his wife Ho Ching, Minister for Manpower Tan Chuan-Jin, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Charles Chong, Member of Parliament Dr Janil Puthucheary, as well as officials from the PMO and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In Mr Lee’s absence, the Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be the Acting Prime Minister, the PMO stated.
