This Friday it was announced that the Home Team National Servicemen are expected to gain some more help to pass their Individual Physical Proficiency Test( IPPT) through personalized, one-on-one coaching. A pilot programme called the “Train and Pass” is on the charts and ready for a start by the end of this year. It is reported to involve 120 NSmen, who will take part in 10 fitness sessions over five weeks. They will be coached by former physical training instructors (PTIs) from the police force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

The Information was presented by the Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli, at the refurbished HomeTeamNS Balestier Clubhouse. Those in the programme can choose their training timings and venues to suit their convenience, and they will also be able to use gym facilities and training equipment at the Balestier and Bukit Batok clubhouses belonging to HomeTeamNS according to Channel News Asia.

“Our NSmen will be able to get access to sound physical training advice from their fellow NSmen who are PTIs,” said Mr Masagos. “The PTIs will be on hand to customise their training, not just to pass the IPPT, but also to ensure the NSmen get a holistic view (on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle).”
