The ustaz, who is informed to have insulted Hinduism in a ceramah at a surau in Shah Alam five years ago has finally apologised for mocking Hinduism this Thursday. “I openly apologise in front of everyone, especially to the Indian community and all parties involved over my words during a speech I made at a ceramah which was considered offensive and insulting to the feelings of the Indian community,” said Ustaz Shahul Hamid Seeni Muhammad.

“I realise that I too, as an Indian, and someone who has origins in India, should not have insulted the beliefs of Hindus in front of everyone. I did not intend to offend and insult and did not mean to incite racial tension. I was only trying to attract the attention of my listeners at the event. However, my ceramah was recorded and uploaded without my knowledge and consent by other individuals,” he said. He further added that he is regretting the words he used and that incidents like this will never be repeated from him. He also said that he is more than willing to meet leaders from the Indian community and personally apologise for his mistakes.

“I appeal to those who uploaded the video to delete it. I hope I will be forgiven and given a chance to improve myself,” he told reporters at the Bandar Perda mosque here after giving a statement to the police. “I’m not sure if I will be investigated and under which Section yet as that would depend on the DPP,” he added.
