It is expected that the signing of the Selangor water restructuring agreement will be completed within this week of September. Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim informed that the parties are still in the process of finalizing the water Heads of Agreement, a long term solution expected to resolve the water issue in the state according to The Sun Daily.

“We are still finalising it and our target is either this week or no later than next Monday or Tuesday. However, our target is to resolve the agreement by this week as we are now in the final stage,” he told reporters after chairing the exco meeting at the state secretariat in Shah Alam this Wednesday. Khalid further added that there are a lot of agencies that will be a part of the agreement’s arrangement such as the National Water Services Commission and the Selangor Water Management authority. “We are putting everyone in line… Now everything is in an implementation mode, rather than discussion mode,” he said.

When asked whether the Syarikat Pengeluar Air Sungai Selangor (Splash) has agreed to the terms of the agreement, Khalid informed the reporters that that will be announced once the agreement is signed. On the statement by Klang MP Charles Santiago asking Khalid to freeze the water agreement as he is regarded as a caretaker mentri besar, he said that the former did not understand the issue. “I don’t think he understands. He should be professional and check his facts first before making statements,” he said.
