The 51st Malaysia Day was celebrated by Google by putting up a prize winning doodle by a 16 year old that covered the true beauty and the best elements that are associated with Malaysia. The Google homepage showed the best iconic landmarks of the country shaped in alphabets that make up the word Google.

 The doodle was titled “Beauty of Malaysia” and the artwork was designed by student Lee Yee Run of SMJK(C) Yoke Kuan in Sekinchan, Selangor, who was the grand winner of the “Malaysia’s Doodle 4 Google” competition, took place on the 8th of September.  The doodle was judged the best entry in the ages 16-17 category, the doodle featured a colourful rendition of the Kuala Lumpur Tower, Petronas Twin Towers and Penang Bridge along with the national flower hibiscus, the Jalur Gemilang national flag and a beach scene.

“Many of us may have been caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, missing out on the beauty of our country,” said Lee in the message that accompanied his entry. “Let’s step out of the box, travel to attractive spots, discover and embrace the true and unique colours of Malaysia. Malaysia to me and you is surely a beautiful place to stay,” he said. The competition also comprised three other categories for ages 7-9, 10-12 and 13-15 beside entries for ages 16-17.
