Today it was confirmed by the Selangor Palace that the new mentri besar will take his/her oath this Tuesday, the 23rd of September at the Istana Alam Shah in Klang.

The Sultan of Selangor’s private secretary, Mohamad Munir Bani, when contacted by Bernama on Thursday (Sep 18), however declined to divulge the name of the new chief minister. He said this would only be known on the day of the ceremony. “Yes, it is true. Tuesday morning, the new mentri besar will be sworn in,” the Selangor Sultan’s private secretary said. The new chief minister will be the mystery replacement of Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim. Bernama understands that Bukit Antarabangsa state assemblyman Mohamad Azmin Ali is likely to be made the new chief minister, holding the highest administrative post in Selangor. However, Mohamad Munir refused to confirm this when asked to comment on the matter.

The sultan had ordered the parties within Pakatan Rakyat – DAP, PKR and PAS –  on the 26th of August to submit more than two names each of people who could be the possible candidates for the post. He had earlier postponed accepting the resignation of the iAbdul Khalid Ibrahim until the process of appointing his successor was completed. However, both PKR and DAP maintained that they wanted PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the sole candidate for the post.
