The Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem said this Tuesday that the Sarawak cabinet’s solidarity would remain intact despite all attempts by opposition to sabotage it over the issue of integrity pledge. He further said that while all his ministers and assistant ministers would sign the pledge, the accusation by the opposition that they had something to hide for not signing it was not fair.

“Any attempt by the opposition to drive a wedge between me and my cabinet colleagues will fail. We are not that stupid to listen to (the accusation made by) them. We believe in cabinet solidarity,” he told a press conference in Kuching. Adenan further added that to get their pledge endorsed the government bodies would have to go thru a process that is monitored by the MACC.

Adenan also added that the social media had misrepresented his speech. “What I said was that I want them to monitor their subcontractors, camp managers, supplies and workers closely as I don’t want to see any of them failing to adhere to the pledge,” Adenan said. “Some of the newspapers misrepresented what I said,” he added. He further added that his remarks of, “Don’t mess with me” was directed at individuals who were involved in illegal logging activities in Sarawak as well as the enforcement officers who were facilitating the activities, according to Bernama.
