Last night the Malaysian Police made a progress in the secession case by recording the statements of nine people which include three women. These people were involved in the distribution of pamphlets which called for secession of Sabah and Sarawak from Malaysia.

The Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jalauddin Abdul Rahman further informed that the suspects were between the age of 24 to 52 and apart from the nine suspects, the police also took statements from 14 witnesses related to the incident. “The nine arrests were made under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act. All nine suspects were released on bail yesterday (Feb 1), at 5pm, after the statements were recorded,” he told Bernama.

Bernama further informed that according to Jalaluddin, the investigations will also be done under the Printing Presses and Publicatios Act, and would be completed as soon as possible to be handed over to the Public Prosecutor for further action. Bernama added that Jalaluddin said the nine suspects were arrested between 9.50am and 10.42am yesterday (Feb 1), after they were believed to be distributing pamphlets regarding the secession in various locations at the Tuaran weekly market.
