Australian teenager is charged for drug possessions in a Bali court. The young boy was presented in the court for the first time yesterday. His charges might even drag him to six years of jail time.

The 14-year-old was taken into custody on October 4 when he was supposedly caught with 3.6 grams of marijuana outside a superstore near Kuta Beach. Apparently, the boy’s family is bearing increasing legal bills worth thousands of dollars a week.

According to the family lawyer Mohammad Rifan, his witnesses would confirm the teenager was a regular user and should be indicted with a lesser offence. In case the judge agrees with the family, the boy would be sent back to Australia where he might be asked to join a rehab.

According to Mr Rifan, Justice Amser told the teenager: “We are a big family, so don’t be afraid, don’t be nervous, because we really want to solve this problem immediately.”

Lawyer Rifan also said the boy was perplexed before and after the trial since several cameras were trying to film him despite the forbiddance of public and media in the court room. However, he said the boy was very calm during the hearing, mainly due to comforting tone of Justice Amser.
