Last evening at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Enfield and Indian Brook Detachments responded to a 911 call regarding a fatal motor vehicle/pedestrian collision between exits 8 and 9 on Highway 102.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a Hyundai Elantra was traveling north in the right hand lane when a pedestrian entered the highway from the center median. The pedestrian crossed the left hand lane where he was almost hit by a transport truck before proceeding into the right hand lane and was struck by the Elantra. The lone 25 year old male driver of the Elantra was not injured. At the time of the collision, it was dark, wet and rainy and the victim was wearing dark clothing.

Allan James Francis (35 years) of Indian Brook was pronounced dead at the scene.
