On March 30, 2011, as part of a joint operation, Sussex RCMP, Saint John Police, and Rothesay Police arrested four suspects in connection with a series of reports of counterfeit $100 bills being circulated in the Sussex, Hampton, Rothesay, Quispamsis and Saint John region.

Investigators were able to identify the suspects based on video images provided by some of the businesses where the suspects used the counterfeit bills.

One woman, two men and one female under the age of 18 were arrested in Sussex, as part of a combined effort by all three police forces involved. All four were subsequently released on a promise to appear in Kings and Saint John County Courts to face charges at a later date.

The investigation into the source of the counterfeit bills is ongoing.
