In October 2010, the Toronto Drug Squad started an investigation targeting the trafficking of large quantities of MDMA and Ketamine in the Toronto and Markham area.

It is alleged that:

– an undercover officer purchased a large quantity of illegal drugs,

– in March 2011, an undercover officer purchased a loaded semi-automatic 9mm Para Ordnance handgun,

– on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, an undercover officer purchased 40,000 Ecstasy pills,

On Tuesday, March 29, 2011, Toronto Police Service and York Regional Police Service officers arrested seven people and executed several search warrants, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of MDMA, Ketamine, marijuana, cocaine and two motor vehicles.

It is further alleged that:

– as a result of the investigation, the following drugs were seized with an estimated street value of $1,460,290:

Ecstasy: 47,353 pills
MDMA powder: 2,563.17 grams
Ketamine: 1,780.13 grams
Marijuana: 1,597.50 grams
MDMA: 51 capsules
Cocaine: 60.70 grams
Crystal Meth: 0.41 grams

The following have been charged with a total of 250 drug-or-firearm-related offences:

Noel Williams, 22, of Markham, 13 charges
Zhi Liu, of Markham, 21, 37 charges
Sabrina Cheung, 19, of Markham, 48 charges
Dennis Lo, 21, of Richmond Hill, 2 charges
Vinh Quach, 34, of Markham, 52 charges
Richard Luu, 24, of Toronto, 51 charges
Alex Yan, 29, of Thornhill, 47 charges

The accused appeared in court at Old City Hall on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, room 103, 10 a.m.
