Dr. Michael B. Wilson, Regional Supervising Coroner for North Region, Thunder Bay office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Barry Vincent Manion.

Mr. Manion, 60, died on March 13, 2009, while an inmate at the Monteith Correctional Complex. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Manion’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last 4 days and to hear from approximately 6 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the Superior Court of Justice, 48 North Spruce Street, Timmins. Dr. Raymond Sawkiw will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Dale Cox will be counsel to the coroner.
