Officers from the Homicide Bureau have designated the April 1, 2011, double stabbing investigation on Vivaldi Crescent as a domestic related murder-suicide.

On Friday, April 1, 2011, at approximately 8:07 a.m., police responded to an address on Vivaldi Crescent. Upon arrival, officers found two adults, a 46 year-old man and a 43 year-old woman, suffering from life threatening injuries.

The female victim, Petty MAHABIR-CHAITRAM, a 43 year-old Brampton woman, and the male suspect, Mathura CHAITRAM, a 46 year-old Brampton man, succumbed to their injuries.

The investigation has revealed that the victim and the suspect were married. The male suspect murdered the victim with an edged weapon, before inflicting himself with fatal injuries.
