19-year-old Kerry Takkiruq found dead at Riverside Golf Course, Edmonton

The Edmonton Police Service has identified a female body that was found at Riverside Golf Course as 19-year-old Kerry Takkiruq (pronounced “Tack-uh-rook”).

Takkiruq was living in Edmonton but was originally from Gjoa (pronounced “Jo”) Haven, Nunavut.

Homicide detectives express their gratitude to the public for sending in their tips and to the media for getting the information out to all citizens. The many tips that were received were directly related in assisting to identify this woman.

The cause of death is still undetermined, pending toxicology testing.

Investigators continue to encourage the public to call the complaints line at 780-423-4567 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) with any information.

Background:

On Thursday, Mar. 31, 2011 around 12:45 p.m. staff at the Riverside Golf Course on Rowland Road alerted police when they found a body on their property.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office concluded an autopsy on Friday, Apr. 1, 2011 with the cause of death being undetermined, pending toxicology testing.

Homicide detectives are considering this a suspicious death.
