An off-duty member of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment has been placed on administrative duties after he was the subject of a motor vehicle incident and impaired driving investigation.

On April 10, 2011 shortly before 2 AM, police received a report of a single motor vehicle in the ditch on Yale Road East near Latimer Road in Chilliwack. Upon their arrival, RCMP members entered into an impaired driving investigation. The driver of the vehicle was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and had his vehicle impounded for 30 days. The driver was identified as an-off duty RCMP member of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment and was driving his personal vehicle. He is also the subject of a criminal investigation.

In addition to this criminal investigation, the member is also facing an RCMP internal investigation. The member remains on administrative duties pending the outcome of both investigations. The member’s name is not being released at this time as he has yet to be charged with a criminal offence.
