High risk sex offender Fabian Claybren Maytwayashing to reside in Winnipeg

The Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit (MIHRSOU) is a joint forces unit of the Winnipeg Police Service and the RCMP. MIHRSOU today provides information regarding Fabian Claybren MAYTWAYASHING, 36 years of age, a convicted sex offender who is considered a high risk to become involved in further sexual offences and is considered a very high risk to become involved in criminal offences generally.

Maytwayashing will be released from the Headingley Correctional Institution in Headingley, Manitoba on April 18, 2011. He is expected to take up residence in Winnipeg. Upon release, Maytwayashing will be under the terms of a probation order.

Maytwayashing has a prior criminal record that includes a conviction for Sexual Assault with a Weapon as well as many other criminal offences. Females of all ages are at risk of sexual violence.

Maytwayashing frequently uses social media to identify and contact women who could be potential victims. Further, he is known to use aliases in his activities.

Maytwayashing’s most recent offences involve two counts of Breach of Probation. On August 12, 2010, he was sentenced to one year in prison to be followed by two years supervised probation on these charges. Maytwayashing will complete the prison portion of his sentence on April 18, 2011. Upon release, the two year probation order will come into effect.

Maytwayashing’s previous conviction for Sexual Assault with a Weapon arose from an incident in Winnipeg on November 12, 2000. The 14 year old victim was grabbed by Maytwayashing as she was walking home. He dragged her into a yard, held a knife to her throat and sexually assaulted her. On March 30, 2001 he was sentenced to five years on this charge. He was held to warrant expiry on this charge. That is, he was not granted any form of parole.
