Ajit Singh escapes from Fraser Regional prison, Maple Ridge, B.C

Maple Ridge, B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP and B.C. Corrections are looking for 21 year old Ajit Singh. Singh managed to escape from the Fraser Regional Correctional Center at approximately noon on Saturday April 16, 2011. Surveillance video showed Singh climbed over a fence, and he then made his way through the forested area around the facility. Police were called by corrections officials to assist in the search.

Police spokesperson Corporal Alanna Dunlop said, “Mr. Singh was serving time for obstructing a peace officer. He is not considered a high risk when it comes to violent behaviors. He has connections to the Vancouver area, and Vancouver City Police have been notified of his escape.”

Singh is described as an east Indian male, 5’10", 180lbs. (Medium build), black hair, brown eyes, with a scar on his right forearm (15cm long). He was wearing prison clothing at the time of his escape.
