California fugitive Tajinder Singh Bedi arrested in Toronto

On Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 9:45 a.m., the Toronto Police Service Fugitive Squad arrested a man wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Tajinder Singh Bedi, 38, is wanted in Contra Costa County, California. He had been convicted of two counts of Sexual Assault, Lewd or Lascivious Act with a child under 14 years old. He fled prior to being sentenced.

It is alleged that:

– the accused fled to Toronto on March 1, 2011 from the United States and has travelled to the Montreal area

– the accused was located living in Brampton and was arrested as he left his home.

He is being held in the West Detention Centre, awaiting extradition.
