Peel police arrest three men on weapon charges

On Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:23 p.m., investigators from Peel Regional Police’s Street Crime Gang Unit conducted a traffic stop in relation to a suspicious vehicle at Queen Street East near Highway 410 in Brampton. A subsequent investigation located a loaded 9mm handgun in the vehicle.

A total of 19 charges have been laid against the occupants of the vehicle.

Shikar RAFIQ, a 23 year-old resident of London, was charged with:

· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
· Possession of a Loaded Restricted Firearm
· Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
· Careless Use or Storage of a Firearm
· Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle
· Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited device

Michael NGUYEN, a 21 year-old resident of Sarnia, was charged with:

· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
· Possession of a Loaded Restricted Firearm
· Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
· Careless Use or Storage of a Firearm
· Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle
· Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited device

Randy CAMERON, a 25 year-old resident of London, was charged with:

· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
· Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
· Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
· Careless Use or Storage of a Firearm
· Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle.
· Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited device
· Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order.

All three suspects were held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on April 28, 2011.
