Investigators working out of the York Regional Police Drugs and Vice Unit have seized nearly $12,000 in drugs after a 34-year-old man was charged in connection with an incident of trafficking at a Toronto Hotel.

Police received information regarding ongoing drug activity at a hotel in the area of Warden Avenue and Highway 401, in the City of Toronto. After conducting a thorough investigation, police attended the hotel on Saturday, May 14, 2011, to arrest a 34-year-old suspect who had been staying in one of the hotel’s rooms.

Later that day, members of the Drugs and Vice Unit executed a Criminal Code search warrant at the hotel room that was occupied by the suspect. Inside, investigators seized various quantities of illegal drugs believed to be cocaine, crack cocaine, ketamine, oxycodone, marihuana and ecstasy tablets totalling a street value of approximately $11,920.

Employees of the hotel are co-operating fully with police as they continue their investigation.

CHARGED:

Dean HIPPOLYTE, 34, of no fixed address

CHARGES:
Trafficking x 2
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x 6
Possess Marihuana
Possess Proceeds of Crime

Mr. HIPPOLYTE has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket sometime today.
