On May 5th, 2011, local RCMP investigators intercepted a package imported by a Mississauga company, based on information provided by the RCMP in British Columbia. The package contained approximately 15,000 suspected counterfeit Viagra pills and was destined to a warehouse leased by the accused. At the warehouse, investigators subsequently seized approximately 100,000 suspected counterfeit Viagra and Cialis pills in blister packs, as well as boxes used to prepare the pills for resale. The estimated total value of the seized counterfeit drugs exceeds 1 million dollars.
During the search, investigators also seized designer label clothing and accessories, including Armani, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Adidas, Gucci, Hugo Boss, LaCoste, MAC cosmetics, Coty Perfume, Tiffany and Links of London jewelry and True Religion Jeans, which were being stored, labeled and tagged for resale in the warehouse. The potential resale value of these counterfeit goods is estimated to be in excess of 5 million dollars.
Charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, contrary to Section 384 (1) of the Criminal Code of Canada and Section 31, contrary to the Food and Drug Act is:
Abrahaam BENMOISE, 56, 120 Duke Street, Hamilton, Ontario
The accused is scheduled to appear in Brampton Court on June 10th, 2011.
