15 year old Winnipeg teen charged for the murder of Gerald Crayford

As previously released, on Sunday, May 15th, 2011 at approximately 2:40 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Members attended to a pizza business located in the 1100 block of Concordia Avenue for a report of a commercial robbery that had just occurred by two male suspects.

Upon arrival officers located a 54 year old male employee who appeared to have been assaulted. Paramedics transported the victim to the hospital in critical condition.

On Monday, May 16th, 2011 during the late evening hours, investigators were notified that victim had succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as Gerald CRAYFORD, 54 years of Winnipeg.

As a result of an extensive investigation, on Monday, May 16th, 2011 shortly after 11:00 p.m. a male youth was located and arrested in the area of Munroe Avenue and Panet Road by members of the Homicide Unit.

In consultation with the Crown Attorney’s Office this 15 year old male youth has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder. He remains in custody at the Manitoba Youth Centre.

This investigation is ongoing.
