Hamilton police seize over 1.5 million worth of marihuana

The Hamilton Police Service Vice and Drugs Unit executed a search warrant at a Richmond Cres. home yesterday that netted a quantity of marihuana valued at $1,638,000.00.

On Monday, May 30th, 2011, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Hamilton Police Service Vice and Drugs officers executed a search warrant at a home on Richmond Cres. near Winona Rd. and the North Service Rd. in Stoney Creek.

A sophisticated marihuana grow operation was located in the basement and on the first floor of the house. Police seized 1,638 plants in various stages of growth along with a quantity of processed marihuana.

The hydro into the house was compromised. Horizon Utilities was contacted and responded to disconnect the power to the house. Union gas also responded to shut the gas off to the house.

The homeowner was arrested at the house and was released on a Promise to Appear for a court date on July 6th, 2011.

Charges: Theft of Hydro
Cultivation of Marihuana
Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking
Proceeds Under $5,000.00

Seized: 1,638 marihuana plants with street value of
$1,638,000.00
255 grams processed marihuana with street value of
$1,500.00
Proceeds of Crime – Cash

Further arrests and charges are expected.
