Ottawa market area swarming leads to robbery and arrests

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has charged four persons following a swarming in the market area on Monday, June 20.

At approximately 1:00am, in the area of Dalhousie/Rideau Streets, a lone male in his 30’s was approached by four persons. One suspect was armed with a knife. The male victim was pushed and also sustained a minor injury from the knife. The victim’s backpack and contents were taken. All four suspects were arrested nearby by Patrol officers. Much of the stolen property was recovered by officers.

Charged, and held for court on June 20th, were:

• Joshua KANA, age 22, of Ottawa, Robbery, breach of probation
• James STEVENS, age 23, of Maniwaki, Robbery, assault police, breach of undertaking, breach of probation
• Rosalie CAYER-BOLANOS, age 18, of Ottawa, Robbery, assault police, mischief under $5000
• Young male, age 17, of Ottawa, Robbery
