Top Muslim cleric in Canada, Caliph Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, has completely rebuked the campaign promise of the President-elect of United States, Donald Trump, that he would ban Muslims from entering the country. In his visit to Baitun Nur Mosque in Calgary, the Caliph explained that the toxic remarks given earlier by the next commander-in-chief are simply never going to happen.

Furthermore, the Caliph thrashed the fear that a backlash might take place against Muslims in the days following the shocking election results. He explained that “Americans have voted him to lead them. I don’t think we have anything to fear. I don’t think Americans as a whole will suddenly rise up against Muslims,” adding that “I don’t think whatever he said will be implemented. I don’t think any sane person can take that step.” Earlier during his campaign, Mr. Trump publicly vowed to execute “total and complete shutdown” of Muslims entering the U.S and caused many in the Muslim community to fear that it might actually take place once he got into power.

Caliph Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad stressed that his people shouldn’t be worked up over such an outlandish statement. According to the Caliph, Trump already apparently seemingly mellowed during his victory speech and it seems like a good omen for not only Muslims, but for all Americans and those around the world. Speaking about Trump, the Caliph alleged that “his attitude has suddenly changed overnight. He went from saying Clinton should be locked up, to calling her an asset to the country.”
