Winnipeg man died during firearm discharge

On October 29th, 2011 at approximately 2:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members were dispatched to the area of Rorie Street and McDermot Avenue for the sound of shots being fired.
 
Upon arrival, responding officers located an injured adult male in the area of the 1st 100 block of Arthur Street. Paramedics attended and transported the victim to the hospital in critical condition where he has since succumbed to his injuries.  The victim has been identified as Oudy PHRAKONEKHAM, 20 years of Winnipeg.
 
The investigation has revealed that the victim was a passenger within a vehicle in the area of Rorie Street and McDermot Avenue when a firearm discharge occurred.   This vehicle left the area and travelled a short distance before stopping within the 1st 100 block of Arthur Street where police and paramedics where summoned. 
 
This investigation is continuing.
