District 5 RCMP have released the names of three people who were killed in a three-vehicle collision over the weekend.

The collision occurred on Route 126 in Kent Junction, N.B., on Sunday, October 30, 2011, at approximately 2 p.m.

58-year-old Monique Marie Daigle and 57-year-old Vincent Daigle, both of Saint John, and 47-year-old Donna-Lynn Martin, of Miramichi, died at the scene.

The three were travelling in a northbound vehicle that lost control and spun out in the highway. A southbound pickup truck struck their car, and a third vehicle rear-ended the pickup truck.

The drivers and lone occupants of the two other vehicles were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police believe slippery, snowy road conditions were a primary factor in the collision. Alcohol is not suspected to have been involved, and all three of the victims had been wearing seatbelts.

Route 126 was closed to traffic for several hours while RCMP and a collision reconstructionist gathered evidence.
