Mounties identify Heathbell remains as of homicide victim Amber Kirwan

The RCMP and New Glasgow Police Service are confirming human remains located on a property in  Pictou County have been positively identified as 19 year-old Amber Kirwan.

Police are not releasing the cause of death; however can confirm the death of  Amber Kirwan is being investigated as a homicide.

Officers uncovered the remains on November 5th during the search of a wooded area on a farm property in Heathbell. 

Kirwan was last seen on October 9th leaving a pool hall in New Glasgow following a night out with friends.

The investigation is continuing.
