Five individuals charged with manslaughter of West-end apartment resident

The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section has arrested and charged five individuals in connection with the death of Chrysostom Caragay Marquez in a west-end apartment in September.

  • Malcolm Gilbert Norman Boysis24, has been charged with 2nd degree murder.
  • Thomas Mark Cowan30, has been charged with manslaughter.
  • Michael Demeter34, has been charged with manslaughter.
  • Trung Nguyen41, has been charged with manslaughter.
  • Andrea NG27, has been charged with manslaughter.

Background:
Shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011, police were called to an apartment at 115 Avenue and 132 Street on a report of a stabbing. The stabbing allegedly took place inside an apartment suite after an altercation between several men. A 27-year-old male occupant of the suite was taken to hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries. EPS Homicide Detectives were called in to investigate. The Medical Examiner conducted the autopsy on September 19, 2011, and ruled the manner of death as a homicide with the cause of death being a stab wound. The victim was identified as Chrysostom Caragay Marquez, 27.
