Mississauga shoe store manager Jay Brass charged with Sexual Exploitation

Investigators from the Special Victims Unit are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information after a 48 year-old shoe store manager was arrested for sexual exploitation.

The victim, a 17 year-old male resident of Mississauga, applied for a job at Croc’s shoe store at Square One shopping centre, located at 100 City Centre Drive in Mississauga. Once the victim had been hired at the store, the suspect started to send him lurid texts.

Over the course of the next week the suspect contacted the victim via text in a sexually explicit manner. The victim contacted police on November 28, 2011 and brought forward the allegations against the suspect. As a result officers from the Special Victims Unit commenced an investigation.  

Details of the allegations will not be released to protect the identity of the victim, the integrity of the investigation, and the follow-up court process.

On Tuesday, November 29, 2011, Jay BRASS, a 48 year-old resident of Vaughn, was arrested. Mr. BRASS is charged with one count of Sexual Exploitation, one count of Child Luring – Child Under 18 Years Old, and one count of Prostitution of Person Under 18 Years Old. He will be appearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on January 9, 2012.

Based upon the allegations, investigators are concerned that there may be other victims and are urging any such individuals to come forward and speak to police as Mr. Brass has worked as a store manager at other retail stores in the Region of Peel.
