On December 7th, 2011 at approximately 3:50 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members responded to the area of the 700 block of Beverley Street for the sound of shots being fired.
Upon arrival officers located an injured adult male in the area suffering from gun shot wounds. Paramedics attended and transported the male to the hospital in critical condition.
Attending members were made aware of a taxi cab leaving the area at the time of the shooting. Officers located the cab in the area of Pembina Highway and Chancellor Drive where a number of males were taken into custody and later released.
On December 8th, 2011 during the late evening hours, investigators were notified that the victim had succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as Darren Paul George, 22 years of Winnipeg.
Investigators have and are continuing to interview a number people in connection with this incident.
This investigation is ongoing by members of the Homicide Unit.
