On Saturday, December 3rd, 2011, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Winnipeg Police Service uniform members responded to a suspicious incident within the 200 block of Morley Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers located the body of a deceased adult male who had sustained upper body injuries. The victim has been identified as Sheldon Kostenko, 33 years of Winnipeg.
The investigation continued by members of the Homicide Unit.
On December 14, 2011, the Winnipeg Police Service requested the public’s assistance in locating 24 year old Denver Sean Gyles.
On December 15, 2011, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Winnipeg Police Service members conducted a traffic stop in the area of Princess Street and McDermot Avenue. It was at this time Gyles was located within the vehicle and placed under arrest.
He has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and remains in custody.
