A 38-year-old was shot dead in his driveway in the north Langley neighborhood of Walnut Grove. According to RCMP Sgt. Jennifer Pound, the Langley Mounties arrived at 9100-block 207th Street around 9 p.m. on Dec. 26 and found a man cold inside his Mercedes SUV.

After the incident, police blocked the street ends, stopping vehicles from entering the vicinity. Pound said the 38-year-old victim did not have a criminal record.

Michael Murray from the neighborhood said: “I figured, given the area, there was probably a good reason [for a number of police cars nearby]. There are no random acts of violence in this area.”

“I was surprised… I didn’t think it was a homicide,” said Shelby Gordon from Walnut Grove.

According to the police, so far, there are no insights to share and nobody has been arrested as an alleged suspect. Anyone with information is asked to inform the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

“As we are in the preliminary stages of this investigation, the details are limited,” RCMP Sgt. Jennifer Pound said.

“We are attempting to gather evidence with the intention of leading investigators to the person responsible for this homicide.”
