Calgary police arrested local sexual assault suspect

At approximately 01:44 pm on Wednesday, December 28, uniformed members of the Calgary Police Service attended an industrial premise located in the 7000 block of Ogendale Pl SE to arrest a suspect in relation to a sexual assault allegation received by CPS on the night of Saturday, Dec 27, 2011.Upon arrival, the suspect got into a vehicle and fled the premise and in doing so, collided into a marked police unit. The suspect was able to flee the area in the vehicle he was operating. There were no injuries as a result of the collision.
 
As a result of the investigation, the suspect was located at a private residence located in the 12000 block of Coventry Hills Way NE where he eventually surrendered to police. A 35 year old male Calgarian was taken into custody without incident. The Sex Crimes Unit is investigating the ongoing sexual assault allegations. The Traffic Unit is investigating the collision on Ogendale Pl SE and driving related charges are pending.
 
Update: A 35-year old man has been charged with sexual interference with a child under 16, sexual assault with a weapon, sexual assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, hit and run, failing to stop for police and six counts of uttering or conveying threats to a person.

 
The accused is known to the victim, and therefore the man’s name will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
