DRPS Investigators arrested a Toronto teacher last week following their investigation into inappropriate comments of a sexual nature made to a student victim, outside of school.
In early February 2012, investigators with the DRPS Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit received a reported incident from Toronto Police Services alleging a sexual offence had occurred in Pickering during October 2011 involving a Toronto teacher and student.
The victim was befriended by the accused, a teacher at Winston Churchill Collegiate in Scarborough and invited to the teacher’s home in Pickering for a social visit during Thanksgiving 2011. The victim alleged the accused then made inappropriate comments of a sexual nature. The victim left the residence immediately and was not physically injured. The victim recently reported the incident to Toronto Police.
Last week, DRPS investigators arrested and charged Ira Mark Young, age 47, of Pickering with Sexual Exploitation. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
Investigators want to ensure there are no other victims.
