Edmonton police investigating a woman pedestrian’s death from vehicle collision

A pedestrian died after she was struck by a car in west Edmonton on Saturday evening.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012, a 20-year-old female who was crossing at the intersection at 156 Street and 87 Avenue, was struck by a Volkswagen car that was travelling westbound. The female had stepped out into the crosswalk to travel south across 87 Avenue at the time of the collision.

The female was treated by EMS and transported to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The EPS Traffic Section continues to investigate the collision to determine whether the pedestrian or the vehicle had the right of way. No charges have been laid at this time.
