A 47-year-old cabbie hit a 23-year-old man and tried to flee the scene early Sunday, police said. The man suffered serious injuries in the accident and was rushed to hospital for first-aid. Apparently, the entire scene was taped and posted on YouTube.

Early Sunday morning around 3:45 a.m., the cabbie got into a fight with a few men who had just gotten out of the taxi. The men were so furious that they encircled the taxi driver and bullied him. A few of them smashed the exterior of his taxi and one man jumped on the roof.

The cabbie tried to get rid of these men and in the process he ran over one man. The video shows the cabbie trying to flee the scene and people gathering around the man who was hit in the process. He suffered grave injuries; however, he is out of danger now.

Until now no charges have been laid against anyone, but the taxi driver might face charges for hitting the 23-year-old man, Const. Raphael Bergeron of Montreal police said Monday.

“I don’t have the exact charges,” Bergeron said.

The cabbie is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon. Montreal police Const. Daniel Lacoursiere alleges the 23-year-old was among the few men who got into a fight with the cabbie.
