Mounties continue to search for missing canoeist

The search for a missing 41-year-old canoeist on Spectacle Lake continues.

Today, members of the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team (URT) are conducting a search on Spectacle Lake along with three members of Queens County Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) using a boat equipped with side SONAR.

At approximately 7:15 p.m., on Saturday May 5th, RCMP received a 911 call of a missing 41-year-old male on Spectacle Lake in East Chester.  The preliminary investigation revealed two men were operating a canoe when it overturned.  One of the men, an 18-year-old male, managed to swim to shore and summoned help; the 41-year-old male has been missing ever since.  Weather conditions at the time of the time of the incident were sunny with temperatures of approximately 12 degrees Celsius.
