Abdul Bangura charged with second degree murder

On November 1, 2011; at approximately 4:40 a.m. on October 30th, 2011, Winnipeg Police Service members responded to a hotel parking lot in the 1000 block of McPhillips Street for a report of shots being fired. 

Upon arrival officers located an injured adult male. Paramedics transported the male victim to the hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim was identified as Mohamed Ali Omar, 28 years of Winnipeg.

On May 8, 2012 at approximately 3 p.m., a 26 year old male identified as Abdul Bangura was located in the area of Louelda Avenue and Antrim Street and arrested for the homicide of Mohamed Ali Omar. Bangura has been charged with the following:

– Second Degree Murder

– Attempt Murder

Bangura has been detained in Provincial Remand Centre.
