The York Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred on Bloomington Road, east of Ninth Line, in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.
On Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at approximately 6:30 a.m., a Ford cube van was travelling eastbound on Bloomington Road east of Ninth Line, when for reasons that are under investigation, it crossed the centre line and struck a Mack dump truck travelling westbound.
The driver of the cube van was transported to hospital and succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the dump truck was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Bloomington Road remains closed between Ninth Line and Tenth Line while the York Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigates the incident. It is expected to remain closed until approximately 2 p.m.
Investigators are asking any witnesses to come forward.
