On May 5, 2012 at 10:30 am the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) was called to assist BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) for an unresponsive male.

A deceased 80 year old male was located by his wife in an outbuilding on their property in the 31700 block of Huntingdon Road. 

The death appeared suspicious, however, further assessment was required in order to confirm or rule out foul play.

On May 7th, 2012 an autopsy was completed on the victim and it was determined that the he sustained injuries that are consistent with a homicide.

On May 8th, 2012 the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took conduct of the file and continue to diligently investigate this death with the assistance of APD.

It is a true tragedy to see a dedicated family man live a full life into his 80’s only to have his life so brutally taken from him, says Sgt. Jennifer Pound.

The victim has been identified as 80 year old Nirmal Bains.
