The Chatham-Kent police would like to inform citizens about a recent fraud in Chatham.
This past weekend while in the parking lot of a business on St. Clair Street, a Chatham resident was approached by unknown men purporting to be from Toronto.  The men advised that they were in town installing equipment and sound systems but had extra equipment for sale.  The man was shown a projector and screen that was for sale at considerably less than the catalogue price of $6500.  Upon returning home, the man realized that the product was worthless and that he had been the victim of a fraud.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind citizens to be alert and cautious when dealing with strangers.  Should you be approached by strangers in a parking lot selling equipment, please gather as much information about the sellers and their vehicle.  Report the incident to police immediately.
