Peel Regional Police seized over $2.5 million of an illegal drug in Ontario, Canada, local law enforcement said Wednesday.

Major Drugs and Vice Investigators from the police services in the Peel Region in Ontario, Canada seized more than 200 boxes of the drug commonly known as “Doda”, which contained 1,282 kilograms of the substance. The total amount of the confiscated substance is worth $2,564,000 dollars.

The illegal drug was found after investigations led to the issuing of three separate search warrants at a Brampton residence, a Mississauga storage facility and a Toronto residence.

Bhagat Singh, 46, of Brampton, was arrested and charged for possessing an illegal substance with the purpose of trafficking. He is now scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Thursday, April 22, 2010.
