HRM Partners in Policing would like to remind people of the dangers associated with diving.

With the great weather and summer heat, people are visiting local beaches in droves. Over the past few days, there have been incidents of injury as a result of people diving from bridges, cliffs and other high points into water.

This past weekend, a 48-year-old male received serious injury when he fell from a cliff near Morris Lake. Although his injuries are not life-threatening, the outcome could have had fatal consequences.

Police urge the public to think before they dive. People need to use common sense and take responsibility for their own safety. ‘Before you think of taking a dive, make sure you will stay alive,’ says Cpl. Scott MacRae, media relations officer for Halifax District RCMP. ‘Summer is a lot more fun when nobody gets hurt.’
