Man arrested for assault leads police to stash of drugs, Moncton, N.B.

Early this morning on April 21, 2010 Codiac Regional RCMP arrested a 23 year old Moncton man in connection with an assault on a cab driver which happened on March 21, 2010 in Moncton. Upon his arrest the suspect was searched and police discovered he was in possession of a variety of drugs prepackaged for resale. Police seized drugs believed to be ecstasy, marijuana and cocaine as well as over $500 in cash.

Later this morning Codiac patrol officers executed a residential search warrant at the 23 year old’s home on Leslie Street in Moncton. They seized over 400 tablets of drugs believed to be ecstasy, prescription medication and drug paraphernalia. They also seized a sawed off shotgun, a loaded shotgun and ammunition.

The man appeared in Moncton Provincial Court this afternoon to face charges in connection with the assault. He will reappear in court at a later date to answer to drugs and weapons related charges.
