Police Looking for More Suspects in Sikh Temple Violence

Officers from the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a disturbance that took place at the Sri Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, located at 99 Glidden Road.

On Sunday, April 18, 2010, at approximately 2:21 p.m., officers attended the temple, in order to keep the peace during an ongoing internal dispute.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m., a physical altercation took place between several parties, in which weapons were used. As a result, three male suspects have been arrested and charged with several offences.

Investigators are attempting to locate two more suspects in relation to the incident. Warrants have been issued for the following individuals:

Amarjit Singh MANN, 58 years-old and a resident of Brampton, is wanted for Possession of a Weapon for a Purpose, Assault with a Weapon, and two counts of Assault Cause Bodily Harm.

Surjit Singh ATWAL, 54 years-old and a resident of Brampton, is wanted for Possession of a Weapon for a Purpose and Assault with a Weapon.

Investigators believe that these individuals may be involved in further violent acts, if they are not located and apprehended. There may be persons within the Sikh community that have knowledge of the whereabouts of the suspects.

Peel Police would like to remind the public that it is a criminal offence to aid a person hiding from police, and it could result in criminal charges being brought against those individuals assisting wanted suspects.

If anyone has any knowledge about the location of the two wanted persons, they are urged to contact investigators immediately.
