Syed Ali Hussain, Mohsin Mehmood, Haroon Rashid and Razwan Ahmed charged with aggravated assault

On Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at 2:45 p.m., police responded to a call for a stabbing on Finch Avenue West, near Duncanwoods Drive.

It is alleged that:

– the victim and his friend were travelling in a red Honda Civic, westbound on Finch Avenue West, when the driver of a silver Montana van forced the Honda Civic to the side of the road,

– six to eight men exited the van and attacked the victim with knives and cricket bats,

– the victim was stabbed over 14 times in the neck and shoulder area,

– the suspects fled in the grey Montana van,

The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim is currently in stable condition.

Syed Ali Hussain, 18, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Aggravated Assault,
2) Conspiracy to commit Indictable Offence,
3) Mischief Under,
4) Dangerous Operation Motor Vehicle,
5) Obstruct Police.

Haroon Rashid, 19, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Aggravated Assault,
2) Conspiracy to commit Indictable Offence,
3) Mischief Under.

Mohsin Mehmood, 18, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Aggravated Assault,
2) Conspiracy to commit Indictable Offence,
3) Mischief Under.

Razwan Ahmed, 18, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Aggravated Assault,
2) Conspiracy to commit Indictable Offence,
3) Mischief Under.

The four men will be scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, room 306, at 10 a.m.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with:
1) Aggravated Assault,
2) Conspiracy to commit Indictable Offence,
3) Mischief Under.

His name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday April 27, 2010, room 204F, at 9 a.m.

Safdar Muhammad, 19, of Mississauga, is wanted for:
1) Aggravated Assault,
2) Conspiracy to commit Indictable Offence,
3) Mischief Under.

The investigation is ongoing.
