The suspectOfficers from 12 Division’s Criminal Investigation Bureau are investigating a shooting incident that has left a local man in hospital.

On Thursday September 6, 2012 at approximately 5:15 pm., the victim was in attendance at the Mississauga Gate Motel which is located on Dundas Street East. The male was then accosted by a female and a male at this location. When officers arrived they found a 37 year-old victim with an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim, a 37 year-old Toronto resident, was subsequently transported to a local hospital.  His injury was not considered life-threatening and was released from hospital.

Miriam Baasit, a 25 year-old female from Toronto, has been charged with Attempted Murder. She was held for a bail hearing, and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Saturday September 8, 2012.

The suspect, who is an associate of Miriam Baasit fled the scene on foot, and he is described as a male, black, 5’5” – 5’9” tall, thin to medium build, and was seen with a goatee and corn rows hairstyle.

Investigators are appealing for any witnesses or individuals, who may have information pertaining to the identity of the suspect to come forward. Members of the public are warned not to approach the male,  he is considered to be armed and dangerous.
