Investigators from the 22 Division Break and Enter Unit have arrested a 45 year-old man in connection to fifty (50) break-ins committed in Peel Region and elsewhere in the Greater Toronto Area.

Ali Hussein ABU-KHALIL, a.k.a. Ali RAMADAN, of Mississauga, was arrested at his residence on May 9, 2010, following a two-month long investigation dubbed “Project Rapunzel”. Mr. Abu-Khalil has been charged in connection to twenty-seven (27) break-ins in Peel Region, six (6) in Halton Region and seventeen (17) in York Region.

Mr. Abu-Khalil is alleged to have utilized a unique signature, whereby he would target high-end residences, where a ladder was accessible on or near the property. The suspect would then use the ladder to enter a second-storey window, thereby bypassing the home’s security system. Mr. Abu-Khalil is alleged to have stolen in excess of $800,000.00 worth of cash, electronics and jewellery.

Mr. Abu-Khalil will be appearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton, on Monday, May 10, 2010.
